What's this post all about? Originally, I was hoping to compile election promises, platforms, and just comment on them. But I think the elections are so far removed from the hard decisions we have to face as a nation in the 21st century that it's almost discouraging to see all the stuff that is getting talked about. Mr. Ignatieff, Mr. Layton, and Mr. Harper: What is your vision for Canada in the next 20 years? What programs and policies would you pursue if you didn't have to get re-elected every 4 years? I'd like to see the leaders articulate "their" Canada without a smear.
Of course, such a question is lofty and idealistic: politics is the art of the possible, and it makes losers of all of us.
