So, I've been in the Vocal Pedagogy class and we're doing voice lessons. I had one last week with my student, and needless to say, I think I failed pretty hard at being an effective teacher. On top of the fact that my student actually was pretty good to begin with, I just don't know where to go from here, other than to workshop songs. The problem is that I suck at piano, so it might not be the most effective use of my time. Maybe I should ask someone to come in and play piano? Anyway, the one thing we worked on was getting that consistent tone color across the range, and he seemed to pick up on that really quickly. Same with the breathing that I noted, so yea it's really great but it doesn't give me a whole lot to work with. I think over all, this whole solo singing stuff isn't my cup of tea, but I think that remains to be seen fully. Maybe I just haven't had a good enough experience with it to make me say "yea, I like this!". Maybe it's just my lack of being a good teacher that's got me blue? Oh well :P.
In any case, I'm signing off for now, blog.
