Despite some minor tech difficulties (laptops right?), they put on a fantastic show with their energetic, rhythmic sound. Amazing vocals over some really great, lush harmony. 12/10, would listen again (and again and again). Of course, I am just a little biased because I scoped them out for CMW 2015 but wasn't able to make it to their show at the Mod Club. Needless to say, I was ecstatic to be able to catch them live this time around. There's just something about their music that really appeals to me. Featurette has a really great sound, and an even better vibe. I featured their track Broken in my May playlist, and I've included the sampler below for your listening pleasure (seriously, if you don't like it—what's wrong with you?? :P).
Part one of their up coming album Crave is available on their website. (Seriously, go get it. You won't regret it.) If I've piqued your interest, they'll be playing a few shows in June so don't miss out!
The group's first "show show," and it turned out to be amazing. The band played so well, it was imperceptible that it was the first time the rubber had hit the road, so to speak. That's a testament to how great the band sounds on stage. Great energy with a really tight sound, the group's music is very airy and ambient, but at the same time driving; it's a really great vibe that really makes you want to move. The mix was fantastic—kudos to The Drake sound guys. If you're keen to check Wilde out, they just released the video for their single Flashlight which I've embedded below.
If you're interested in checking out Wilde, they'll be playing The Hustle at the Piston May 21st. They'll also be playing later in May for Hennessy Artistry's Art of Blending May 28th. Keep an eye out for their Flashlight EP, coming soon!
The main event, Rolemodel put on a great show! They had a great stage setup, with a projecter with some great video going on. Really helped to set the vibe up for me. What struck me about their sound was that it's definitely a summer kind of chill, very driving and heavy; but so easy to listen to. I suppose that is the essence of dream pop, no? Maybe it was some of the imagery they had up behind them, I couldn't get the thought of a beach chair, sand and mojitos being brought to me while listening to them play. The sound, to me anyway, is perfect for lounging around on a beach. The beach, or driving along a highway going to a beach. I've embedded their dreamy track Teen Idol below so you can check it out.
